And, if the dragon is feeling a little hungry, they will devour a unit whole. Worry not though, for if you slay the dragon before it digests your buddy, he will most likely come out in one piece. And not only will you get your buddy back, but dragons often drop glorious treasures for your hero to wield in the future.
As I mentioned earlier, dragons tend to guard the center of the maps. Okay, but what are they guarding? Most often it’s a gold mine or a fountain of mana/health. But on a few maps, the dragons are actually guarding a nest. That’s right. A mother dragon giving birth to new demons! If you happen to slay the dragon guardians, you’ll be able to “purchase” either a whelp, a drake, or even an adult dragon! This isn’t the only place you can find wild dragons for enlistment. Occasionally you’ll stumble upon a “drake egg” from a fallen high level creep which can be used at any time to summon a drake.
Three of the four races have their own dragons for purchase. The Humans have the Dragonhawk, the Night Elves have the Chimaera, and the Undead have the Frost Wyrm. The Orcs Wind Riders and Night Elf Faerie Dragons resemble true dragons, but are of a separate species.

The Frost Wyrm is favorite among Undead players. When their attack is fully upgraded, these boney behemoths can do up to 151 damage! Their Freezing Breath ability (see picture above) can halt all production in a building and stop towers and burrows from attacking. Their only downfall is their steep price and slow movement, build speed, and attack. If you can amass an army of these demons, you can level an entire town in a matter of seconds.
