World of Warcraft Movie to Hit the Screen with a Delay!

The initial announcement for the “World of Warcraft” movie was met with a lot of excitement, but unfortunately it seems like fans will have to wait a little longer to actually see the film. At first, the production was supposed to be finished and released on March 11, 2016, but now it’s been pushed back by a few months and is coming on June 10, 2016.

This was confirmed by director Duncan Jones on his official Twitter account, where he revealed that the decision was coming from above and he wasn’t actually involved in it. Apparently, the reason for the delay is that the movie is going to be a summer release, making it unsuitable for the previously planned date in March.


According to critics though, this makes sense as it would give the film better exposure and possibly allow it to score better with its respective crowds. Of course, it should go without saying that fans of “World of Warcraft” will watch the film whenever it comes out, and there are many of them out there as well, so the production isn’t going to suffer from a lack of attention.

Are the producers going to do anything special with the extra three months they’ve been given? It’s hard to say – but it’s entirely possible. Of course, the whole structure of the film’s production was likely already planned in advance and it may not be that easy to just introduce changes in these plans, but they could always spend the extra time on additional marketing and generating more hype for the film.

Meanwhile, the game that the film is based on remains strong and popular, despite the fact that it’s been on the market for such a long time already. Not only that, but Blizzard continue to support it with regular updates and major content releases, something which has managed to not just retain the original fans of the title, but also attracts new ones on a regular basis.

It’s being speculated that the release of the film could have a profound impact on the game as well, breathing some fresh life into it. Blizzard could possibly benefit from the situation even further by releasing a major update for the game around the same time, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they have something big planned behind the scenes for when the “World of Warcraft” film finally comes out.

With about a year left in its production, we’ll probably start hearing more and more about it in the coming months – and as we said above, it’s not unlikely that Blizzard also have major advertising plans for it which we’ll start seeing in action soon.
